I don’t like describing myself using ‘am’ phrases. They’re too definitive and limiting. They give you a snapshot of a particular part of someone at a particular time, they describe what I ‘am’ right now, but not who I am. So instead I’ll describe how I think, what I want and what I love to do, because that will do a much better job of helping you understand who I am. I will say though, I am Conor O’Shea.
I want to be at the cutting edge, where things are still expanding and developing. I want to have an impact with the work that I do. I want to be involved in tackling the biggest problems we are dealing with, as individuals and as a society because there’s nowhere else I can make the most difference and that’s where the cutting edge is. I love learning, I love getting better at things and developing skills.
I look at the world like a philosopher and an economist. What that means to me is that I like to think about problems. I like to look at them logically, to break them down into what is conceptually possible not just commonly assumed. I have enjoyed developing my current role into one where I collaborate with people across the firm to find solutions that don’t just solve our problems, but do so in the best way for us, given our constraints and what we want to optimise for.
I have an extremely broad set of interests, from quantum mechanics to historical magic and everything in between.
